My story

The creation of Crimson Peacock has been an incredible adventure, connecting Penzance in Cornwall with Jaipur in in Rajasthan, my two favourite places!

After 15 years as a family lawyer, I finally succumbed to my craving for colour and creativity and took a huge leap of faith to start my Crimson Peacock journey.

Hidden away in my Shepherd Hut in Cornwall, I designed a fabulous range of nightwear. I booked a flight to Jaipur and had the adventure of a lifetime, sourcing fabric, setting up the manufacturing process and of course soaking up the incredible sights, sounds and smells of India!

Now the range encompasses both night and day wear and I am adding new styles and prints every year.

Vibrant Colour

Nothing compares to the visual explosion of walking through the markets of Jaipur. The joy of colour is at the heart of what I do and these collections bring together exceptional comfort and softness with a festival of brilliant colour.

Ethical Production

I have worked extremely hard to ensure that all those involved in the production of Crimson Peacock garments are treated with kindness, dignity and respect.  At the outset, when I was designing clothes for the first time, I prioritised the beauty and comfort of the garment.  My focus was on flattering, feminine shapes, the quality of the stitching and the look of my creations.  All these things are essential, but my journey has brought me a new perspective – that of the wonderful people in India who work for me.  My business would be nothing without their skill and artistry and I feel a huge responsibility to support and promote these ancient crafts and to ensure that my designs are made without cruelty or exploitation.

I think the most important thing I have learned is that there is no reason why something beautiful, colourful and comfortable can’t also be kind.

Perfectly Imperfect

Hand block printing is an ancient handicraft developed and perfected in Rajasthan over centuries. The pattern of each fabric is individually printed using hand carved wooden blocks that are applied to the fabric by expert hands. No two pieces are quite the same and each contains its own special signature of imperfections, enriching the beauty of these unique fabrics.
